Welcome
to the University of Arizona, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and
most especially the Department of Entomology. My name is Patricia Baldewicz and I am
an administrative assistant in a position called Graduate Coordinator. Our Department offers MS and PhD
degrees, thus all of our students are graduate students. The majority of my work is concerned
with the graduate
students, from sending out application packets to prospects to tracking the
post-graduates as they move on in their careers. I was a language major in my trek
through college about 40 years ago, and worked in private industry most of my
life, so it has been very different and exciting working on the main campus of a
major University, especially in the “bug” department. I have learned to tolerate and even LIKE
most (but not all!) of our six- and eight-legged creatures. And my greatest joy comes from assisting
the graduate students in whatever capacity is needed. Even though this is supposedly the
electronic age and there is so much talk about “going paperless,” the
administrative aspects of my job still require a HUGE amount of
paper-shuffling. Browse through the
rest of our site, e-mail me if you
would like to go to school here, or dial 520 621-5925 to request a tour of our
collection (“bug museum,” as the non-scientists of us call
it).
