WRRC Event: September 11 Brown Bag: The ABCs of ECs: Emerging Contaminants in the Environment
Location: Water Resources Research Center

Event Summary

Please join Mr. Graf  to hear about those concerns rising about the possibility that pharmaceuticals and personal care products, including endocrine disrupting chemicals, may be present in our drinking water supply and may be causing adverse impacts in the environment. This overview of emerging contaminants in the environment will answer questions such as: What are they, how do we analyze them, how do they get into the environment, where do they end up, what is their impact, and what can we do? We know for certain that low levels of these chemicals are present in the treated wastewater discharged from sewage treatment plants in Arizona and elsewhere. In Arizona, because reuse of reclaimed wastewater is assuming an increasingly larger role in the overall water budget, answers to these questions are especially pertinent.
