Hardin: Traditional Gila River Pima "Sandwich" House

'sandwich' house Built with a composite wall system of wood and packed mud, this traditional Gila River Pima "sandwich" house is 70 years old. As the photograph shows, such walls require frequent repacking with mud. This house belongs to the Pima family for whom a new rammed earth house was constructed as described in the accompanying article.
