Here, compost is being turned in the composter where both kitchen wastes and fecal matter are composted Regular turning of the household's two compost heaps is also an important factor in keeping the system working aerobically and thus preventing the development of unpleasant odors caused by decaying organic substances. Although this particular composter is located at the front door of the home, the household reports no smell and in fact visitors do not realize that fecal matter is regularly added to the compost.
