Here, a microcatchment field is prepared before the beginning of the 1995 rainy season in Olkinos, Kajiado District. The upper half of the field is not plowed but smoothed to contribute runoff, while the lower plowed part of the field, surrounded by a low bund, will harvest the runoff. Mr. Francis M. Ndaraiya, in the center of the picture, carried out the experiments in cooperation with the local Maasai. Professor.
