College
of Agriculture & Life Sciences EarlyAchiever Award (under 40)
The Early Achiever Award is for individuals forty
years old and younger who have demonstrated superior performance
in activities reflected in the mission of the College of Agriculture
& Life Sciences. This Award is intended to emphasize the wide
diversity of the College by recognizing outstanding accomplishments
and activities directly affecting agriculture sciences, renewable
resources, the marketplace, families and consumers.
- Nominations
may be selected and submitted by the various administrative
units and subunits within the CALS, and by friends and alumni
of the college.
- Nominations
will be submitted on the Nomination Form for Awards Sponsored
by the UA College of Agriculture
- Nominations
will be reviewed by the CALS University Awards for Citizens
Committee and the Alumni Council Awards Committee. Those
selected to be considered further will be forwarded to
the Dean of Agriculture who will make the final decision
for CALS awards.
- Nominations
for the Young Achiever Award would normally display a
variety of service and support activities in Arizona agriculture.
- Nominees
not selected in a given year will be considered in succeeding
years, if they continue to meet the criteria and if files
are updated in the year to be considered. This would logically
be done by the original nominating unit, but could be
initiated by the Awards Committees.
- Young
Achievers Awards will normally be presented at an appropriate
event in the recipients community. For this reason the
pool of recipients when viewed as a total over years would
be expected to reflect geographical, ethnicity and gender
of those involved in support of Arizona agriculture.
- Notification
of awards will only be made by the Dean of the College
of Agriculture
- Individuals
nominated need not have attended the UA College of Agriculture
- Award
winners will be presented a memento similar to those presented
to lifetime award winners but approximately one-half the
size.

College of Agriculture & Life Sciences Lifetime Award
The
Agricultural Lifetime Award is "for individuals or organizations
who have significantly supported the CALS and/or Arizona Agriculture
or any of its programs in a superior and sustained manner
over a thirty-year period."
- Nominations
are to be selected and submitted by the various administrative
units and subunits within the CALS, and by alumni of the
college.
- Nominations
will be submitted each year on the Nomination Form for
Awards Sponsored By The University of Arizona College
of Agriculture
- Nominations
will be reviewed by the College of Agriculture Awards
Committee and the College of Agriculture Alumni Council
Awards Committee. Those selected to be considered further
will be forwarded to the dean of Agriculture who will
normally make the final decision for CALS awards.
- Selection
for other awards such as Distinguished Citizen Award,
Honorary Alumnus, etc., does not preclude selection for
Agricultural Lifetime Award since the latter is an accumulation
of lifetime service and support to the CALS and Arizona
agriculture.
- Nominations
for Lifetime Award would normally portray a variety of
service and support activities, including monetary or
other contributions.
- Nominees
not selected in a given year will be considered in succeeding
years if files are updated in the year to be considered.
This would logically be done by the original nominating
unit, but could be initiated by the awards committees.
- The
pool of recipients, when viewed as a total over years,
would normally be expected to reflect the geographical,
ethnicity and gender of those involved in support to the
CALS and Arizona agriculture or any of its programs. While
not attempting to subvert consideration of any nominee
for accomplishment and service, the Awards Committee should
definitely keep acceptable Affirmative Action principles
in mind.
- Notification
of awards will only be made by the dean of the College
of Agriculture after consideration of recommendations
from the CALS Awards and the Alumni Awards committees.
- Agricultural
Lifetime Awards would normally be considered for individuals
living or organizations existing at the time of consideration.
However, deceased individuals could be considered at any
time if there is overwhelming support within the committees
to do so.
-
Each
year a total of five lifetime awards will (can) be conferred,
of which one will normally be to an organization and
four to individuals other than employees of the College
of Agriculture
