An important function of the Arid Southwest IPM Network is to serve as the primary information source for USDA, EPA, and other federal, state and regional interests regarding pest management issues in our multi-state area.
Federal agencies often request information on current pest management practices (including pesticide use) in a particular crop to inform decision-making processes, such as re-registration of pesticides through the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA).
Information requests regarding pest management in the arid southwest are now funneled through the Arid Southwest IPM Network. We have built an expanding list of contacts, including researchers, growers, pest control advisors, farm managers and Cooperative Extension personnel in our multi-state area. This network facilitates timely and accurate responses to pest management information requests that reflect current practices and growers needs for safe and effective pest management tools.
