Dr. Taylor joined the faculty of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics in 1991. He also has an appointment in the Department of Economics, where he has been Professor since 1972. Prior to Arizona, he held positions at Harvard University and the University of Michigan.

His research interests have centered on consumer demand, econometrics, and the economics of regulated industries. Other interests include capital theory and the interface between psychology and economics. He was a senior staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisers in 1964-65 and spent 18 months in 1967-68 with the (then) Harvard Development Advisory service as an advisor to the Ministry of Planning of the Government of Colombia.
