RESEARCH FACULTY OF THE YEAR AWARD
NOMINATION GUIDELINES

WHAT IS THE AWARD?

The Research Faculty of the Year Award was created to recognize and honor outstanding achievements and contributions in research by a faculty member in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). The award will be given annually with a plaque and award of $1,000 presented at the Fall Faculty Staff Meeting.

WHO CAN BE NOMINATED?

Any faculty of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences who are involved in research activities, except recent recipients, are eligible for nomination.

WHO CAN NOMINATE?

Nomination of candidates for the Research Faculty of the Year Award may be made by administrative heads, faculty or staff of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

INFORMATION TO BE PROVIDED IN THE NOMINATING PETITION:

It is incumbent on the nominator to do a careful and thorough job of documenting the petition. Recommended information to include:

  1. Name of Nominee
  2. Narrative statements of the individual's exceptional research contributions in the following categories:
    • Grants/Contracts
    • Publications
    • Collaborative Efforts
    • Graduate Advising
    • Regional/National Activities
    • Campus Citizenship
    • Peer Recognition
  3. Curriculum Vitae

SELECTION PROCEDURE

A committee comprised of a minimum of two faculty and one appointed personnel member plus the associate dean for research serving as chair will review all nominations and make their selection based on the attached criteria.

HOW TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS

Send the original nomination packet to Parker Antin, Forbes 314, P.O. Box 210036, Campus. The award is usually presented at the Fall Faculty Staff Meeting. The deadline for submission will be announced annually as it may vary somewhat from year to year. For further information contact Parker Antin at (520) 621-7201.

CALS RESEARCH FACULTY OF THE YEAR AWARD
SUGGESTED CRITERIA

The criteria address employee achievements in research that have an impact at the local, state and national level.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT-actions that constitute performance beyond expected standards such as:

  • producing high quality of work over an extended period of time.

  • producing high quantity of work over an extended period of time.

  • giving extra effort to complete a job or handle a heavier workload.

  • pursuing interdisciplinary efforts.

  • exceptional service to department or discipline.

  • making special efforts to recognize excellence in others.

  • creating extra opportunities to improve skills and abilities.
