The Millennium Project was initiated in part as a response to the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology study on the status of women faculty
in science, and received the complete endorsement of University of Arizona
President Peter Likins. The goal of the Millennium
Project was to enhance the development of an institutional culture at the
University of Arizona that fosters productivity, creativity and excellence.
The Project supported the university's goal of achieving a climate that will
allow all faculty, staff and students to be productive and unhindered by any
impediments due to considerations of gender, race/ethnicity, or any other
reason. There were two phases of
the project: Phase I, addressing faculty issues and Phase II,
addressing classified staff and appointed personnel issues.
A university wide Millennium Report Oversight
Committee (MROC) was established to see that the recommendations of the
Project Report are implemented. College MROC committees were also
established.
CALS MOC serves as a conduit between the
UA MROC and CALS Administration to work toward the implementation of the
recommendations of the Millennium Project Report that best enhance the
faculty and staff of CALS. |
