Reducing Spam with Filters


Email filters can help reduce unwanted spam. They do this by examining each incoming message for particular attributes such as a particular sender or subject line. When an incoming message fits the filter's pattern, the message is discarded.

The most effective rules to use in your filters will depend on the spam you receive. For example, if you get a lot of messages with the word DEBT in the subject line, make a filter that deletes such messages. Or, if you get a lot of spam from a particular sender, filter out that sender.

If you want to filter out spam from many sources or types, make a filter for each, using one filtration rule per filter.
