The following are Instructions for updating your anti-virus
software. This is for users of Sophos software only. The
software is available from Sitelicense.Arizona.Edu from
any University of Arizona Computer.
Download
latest virus identity (IDE) files..... click here--> 
Virus identity (IDE) files are produced to enable Sophos Anti-Virus to detect
viruses which are not included in the current version. They are not a replacement
for the regular monthly upgrades.
Click on Download Zip Button (from
Sophos site) to retrieve zipped file with IDE's inside.
You need to have an archive program such as Winzip or Powerarchiver installed
on your computer. (Windows Only)
1. Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows
NT/Windows 2000
Local installation (single user): updating with virus identity (IDE) files
- Copy or Unzip the IDE files to the Sophos Anti-Virus
directory on your workstation (by default,
'C:\Program Files\Sophos SWEEP for NT').
Restart the workstation. Sophos Anti-Virus will automatically
recognize the new IDEs.
- How to confirm that the IDE files have been loaded
Select 'About Sweep...' from the 'Help' menu, 'Total viruses' should have
changed.
The IDE files loaded are listed in the SWEEP log (by default 'C:\Program
Files\Sophos SWEEP for NT\SWEEP.LOG').
2. Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows
95/98/Me
Local installation (single user): updating with virus identity (IDE) files
- Copy or Unzip the IDE files to the Sophos Anti-Virus
directory on your workstation (by default,
'C:\Program Files\Sophos SWEEP').

3. Sophos Anti-Virus for Macintosh
Updating with virus identity (IDE) files
Installed as a local installation
- Copy the IDE files into the 'Sophos' folder inside
the 'Preferences' folder.
If InterCheck is installed, restart the Macintosh to load the new
identities.
If SWEEP only is installed, launch it (or re-launch it) to load the new
identities.
