If you get stuck we can answer general questions for you over the phone or via email. Good luck with your setup.

Setting up internet access through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is easy. Keep in mind you must be faculty or staff to apply for internet access. Let's get started.

Before you get started, you'll want to download the following files.

win2k.scp

Slip800.scp -> use this script if you are connecting via the 800 number.

You should save this file into C:\Program Files\Accessories so that later when we install this new script, things will be greatly simplified.

Click on the Start Menu, and select Programs --> Accessories --> Communications --> Network and Dial-Up Connections

A new window should appear. Double Click on Make New Connection. This will start the Network Connection Wizard.
Click Next.

Now appears your Network Connection options. Click on the second option labeled, "Dial-up to the Internet"

Click Next

This starts the Internet Connection Wizard.
Click on the last option labeled, "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)"

Click Next

In the new window, click the first choice, "I connect through a phone line and a modem"

Click Next.

In the next window, you will be given the choice to select a modem. If you're modem is installed correctly, it should allready be selected in the pull down menu. If you cannot find your modem, contact your modem's tech support for furthur installation instructions.

Click Next.

Now that your modem has been selected, it's time to enter the dialing properties and phone number.

For local Tucson access, enter in the number, 618-3190, into the Telephone number field.

Go ahead and uncheck the box labeled, "Use area code and dialing rules".

NOTE: Toll free access is avaliable, please contact the AgNet lab for more information at 621-2489.

Before going to the next page, click the Advanced Button.

A new window will appear that controls the advanced setting of your internet connection. At the bottom of the page, click the button that says "Use logon script".

Once the button is selected, the Script field will become unshaded. Click the Browse button to find the script you downloaded at step 1. (The address in the script field will most likely be different than yours)

Click the "Addresses" Tab at the top. A new set of fields should appear.

At the top is the IP address setting. Click on the first button labeled "Internet service provider automatically provides one"

At the bottom of the page is the DNS Server settings. Click on the second button labeled "Always use the following:"

For "Primary DNS server:" type in 128.196.11.234
For "Alternate DNS server:" type in 128.196.11.235

Click OK

This takes you back to the Phone Number window, Click Next.

The new window asks for your username and password. This is the same username and password to logon into your account

Type in your information and click Next.

This next step asks you to name your connection. Any name will work. We suggest a name related to the Ag College, for example, "Ag Connection"

Enter a name and click Next.

This new window asks if you want to setup a Microsoft Internet Mail Account.
Click No
Click Next

Congratulations, you've finished setting up your account. Click Finish to try connecting to the Internet.

When you're done using your connection, disconnect by right clicking on the Computer Icon at the bottom right of your screen,

Then click Disconnect.
