Course
Prerequisite
One full semester
of natural resource economics or microeconomics (AREC 217 or ECON 201A;
ECON 361 or equivalent) and Calculus (MATH 113, MATH 124, or MATH 125
or equivalent).
In-Class
Participation
This is an advanced, participatory seminar-style course. Students routinely are called on to discuss readings and lecture material. Regular attendance, along with assigned class presentations (RWAs), in-class team problem- solving exercises, and discussion of course readings are all part of the participation grade. Be prepared to discuss questions provided on readings for each class. Points missed due to absence for presentations and in-class exercises may not be made up.
Problem Sets
Problem sets will be assigned periodically, as preparation for exams.
Assigned
Readings
Assigned readings are required and are drawn from various
books and professional journals. The articles require an understanding of concepts discussed in beginning microeconomics and calculus courses. Keep your old notes and textbooks handy to use as references. Readings are available on the class website
(ag.arizona.edu/classes/arec479).
Office
Hours
Office hours are 30 minutes before and after class,
and additionally as announced in class. In addition
to these times, students are welcome to make appointments.
