Economic methods applied to evaluate water and environmental policies, including benefit cost analysis, externalities, public goods, and non-market valuation methodologies.

This seminar style class provides a unique interactive, interdisciplinary, collegial learning opportunity.

NO MAKEUP OR LATE EXAMS

Prerequisites: One full semester of natural resource economics or microeconomics (AREC 217 or AREC 376, or ECON 201A, ECON 300, ECON 361 or equivalent).

Class Participation, Exercises, and Problem Sets: Students are expected to attend all classes, arriving prepared to discuss readings and discussion topics. The class participation grade is based on attendance, discussion of course readings, short presentations, and in-class problem-solving exercises.

Problem Sets: Problem sets will be assigned prior to exams and represent the types of problems included on exams.

Class Website: Required readings are from various sources, available on a password protected web site (ag.arizona.edu/classes/arec575).

Term Project: A term project/presentation is required of all students. Guidelines and due dates to be provided.

Office Hours: Before and after class, extra hours announced in class. Students are welcome to make appointments with the instructor, in addition to regular office hours.

General Course Policies: Cell phones, pagers, and other disruptive electronic devices in silent mode.
