Agriculture Courses Offered

The University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences periodically offers technical agriculture courses at the Maricopa Agricultural Center and other non-campus locations. These courses offered are one-unit modules, at the upper level undergraduate and beginning graduate level. These courses can be used to help in meeting the degree requirements for either undergraduate or graduate students working toward a master's degree. Agriculturists or other professionals seeking certification(s) may also want to enroll in these credit courses.

Each modular course is worth one semester credit hour. Each modular course consists of four, 4-hour class sessions. Credit may be applied directly to programs currently in place at the University of Arizona and the Central Arizona College. Potential students should also understand that university course work will require study outside of class, assignments, as well as examinations.

  1. Soils and Soil Fertility (SWES 406) (Dr. Jim Walworth, Dr. Tom Thompson, Dr. Paul Brown, and Dr. Jeff Silvertooth (course coordinator)) 18 June; 25 June; 2 July; 9 July, 2002, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the University of Arizona Yuma County Cooperative Extension Auditorium.
  2. Weed Science For The Practitioner (PLS 497A ) (Dr. Bill McCloskey, Kai Umeda, and Pat Clay), August 21 & 28, and September 4 & 11, 2002, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the University of Arizona Maricopa Agricultural Center.
  3. Insect Diagnostics (Ent 497a) (Dr. Dawn Gouge, Dr. Kirk Smith, Dr. Peter Ellsworth, Carl Olsen) Maricopa Agricultural Center.

Students enrolling in these courses must be officially admitted to the University of Arizona, and will enroll through the Extended University 1-800-955-Uof A (8632). Enrollment can be completed the first day of class.

Prices for enrollment are ($126.00 per unit plus $6.00 AZ Trust Fee and $15.00 EU Registration Fee).
