Overview of Lessons

Lesson One: Getting Started
This lesson will introduce you to issues related to filenames and directory structure, discusses how to define a site in Dreamweaver, and reviews basics in working with the files (or site) panel versus the document panel or window. In this lesson you will begin some basic documents (with just paragraphs and single lines of text). You will also learn about how to add a TITLE tag to your Dreamweaver document and why titles are important and how to use the FTP feature in Dreamweaver.
Lesson Two: Working with Text
In this lesson you will work with the Properties panel to change text properties, such as the font style, size and color. You will learn some basics about "coloring" on the web, and using a color for the background of the page. This lesson also covers putting "spaces" in a web document, indenting, and special characters.
Lesson Three: Lists and Links
This lesson covers ordered and unordered lists, and using definition lists, and why you might want to use each of these options. This lesson also covers links (linking to other documents and other web sites, and linking to sections of a longer document) as well as the mailto: command.
Lesson Four: Graphics
This lesson reviews the types of images you can use, and how to place images and modify image properties. It also covers images which are links, imagemaps, rollover images, and using background images, and how the load indicator can help you determine how long your page with graphics will take to load.
Lesson Five: Tables
This lesson addresses how to create "regular" data tables (information in columns and rows), how to modify table properties, and how to use tables for layouts. It also talks briefly about screen resolution issues.
Lesson Six: Final Issues
This lesson talks about metatags (which are very important for search engines), how to test your web pages in Dreamweaver, file management options found in Dreamweaver, University and college web policies, and announcing your web site.
