Discover the Insects of Arizona!
Discover the Insects of Arizona!
The Arizona Insect Festival will take place on Saturday, September 15 from 10 am to 3pm at the University of Arizona. More than 20 booths in the Student Union Grand Ballroom, 3rd floor will offer theme-based, interactive activities and exhibits to learn about the importance of insects in our daily lives, and to discover exciting UA research. Insects play unique and diverse in maintaining healthy ecosystems (such as litter decomposition), enhancing crop productivity, pollinating native plants, spreading disease and impacting our urban environments. Come and learn about these roles and more! The festival will highlight insect-related research conducted by UA scientists from a wide range of academic departments including Entomology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Neurobiology. Together these researchers make up one of the largest and most important groups of insect scientists in the world.
The festival is geared to all ages, especially families, and is free for everyone!
Free parking will be available in the Park Avenue Garage. Tyndall, Highland and Main Gate parking garages are free for carpools of 4 or more people.
The UA Dept. of Entomology, University of Arizona, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, UA Insect Collection, Center for Insect Science, Leica, and VWR are sponsoring the 2012 Arizona Insect Festival.
