Many of our agents would like some way of indicating that their newspaper articles and columns are reaching the public. We often record the newspaper readership, which is available from each periodical. Although it is fairly simple to determine how many people are going to an electronic version of a newspaper article (note, this is not the same as having an impact on the people), it is quite difficult to determine how many people are reading a printed version of a newspaper article. The Newspaper Association of America has statistics on the number of people reading various sections of newspapers nationwide. From this, we can broadly estimate the number of readers we may be reaching with a newspaper article. Impact can not be determined, but number of contacts may be estimated.
