    Communication in the workplace between supervisor and foreman and between foreman and worker has been rated among the top three labor concerns in the categories very important to extremely important by attendants of the Southwest Horticulture Trade Show in 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona. Breakdowns in communication between supervisors and the work force can lead to operational inefficiencies and frustrations. Resources are available that help to better manage common communication problems in the workplace.

The book Ag Help Wanted is a reference for anyone working in personnel management in agriculture or horticulture. Human resources are the most important asset of a business and knowing the most effective way to communicate with employees is a crucial aspect of successful personnel management. The book explains in detail how to hire, evaluate, and manage employees among other topics. Many specific problems are addressed such as how a former worker can become an effective supervisor, how to handle problems such as absenteeism, alcohol abuse, or poor quality work. Video clips are available that can be used in conjuction with the book for training employees in how to deal with certain situations.
