Britney Schmidt from Pima County took 1st Place High Individual Overall. The Demonstration Team from Pinal County finished in 3rd Place. Arizona placed 4th overall among the states. A big thank you to the chaperones, Bonnie Schmidt and Donna Chesney.

* Monica Pastor is setting up a weekly e-mail newsletter to keep interested faculty and staff aware of the bills introduced in the Legislature. If you would like to receive this newsletter please e-mail her at mpastor@cals.arizona.edu. Indicate to her the issues you are interested in, for example: tobacco education, natural resource issues, specific research opportunities, water issues, family and consumer education, youth-at-risk, etc.

* INPUT FOR PRESENTATIONS IN PHOENIX IN APRIL. Periodically on campus ECAT sponsors or gives special classes and presentations on various areas of communication and technology. We know that these sessions, which are mostly one hour long, are difficult for off-campus people to attend, because of the travel involved. ECAT is proposing giving a series of presentations in Phoenix on April 10, but unlike last year, there will probably be two sessions at the same time, to give attendees more choices. We have listed more topics that we can give and would like input from off-campus persons on their priorities. If you or others in your office would attend, there is a form on the web site to complete http://cals.arizona.edu/ecat/news/phoenix-2000.html. The proposed topics cover various communication and technology issues. Sessions could be attended by staff, faculty, and volunteers. This is not a registration form, since we do not know which topics will be offered, but this form will help us select the topics. Please provide input on your priorities by January 21, and we will announce what topics will be given.
