HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

The Western Region Land Grant System has selected Dr. Mike Harrington (former Acting Dean of Agriculture in Hawaii) to become the Western Executive Director. Many of you know and appreciate Dr. Bob Heil (Colorado State) who is serving in this role until June 30, 2001. Bob's position is 100% Experiment Station funded. The new position is partially Extension funded and will have a major focus on multi-state integrated research and Extension activities. When Mike begins this Summer, we'll try to have him come to Arizona to talk about multi-state and regional opportunities.

* Congratulations to Phil Guertin, SRNR, and his team for receiving an award of $279,000 (36 months) from the Integrated Research, Education and Extension Competitive Grants Program (by the USDA/CSREES 406 Water Quality Initiative).
