Congratulations to the following award recipients from the University of Arizona Alumni Association. Eugene G. Sander, Honorary Alumnus Award; Shirley Jo Taylor, Sidney S. Woods Alumni Service Award; Shirley O'Brien, Bear Down Award; Stuart Anderson, Distinguished Citizen Award; John Hays, Public Service Award; Polly F.R. Elson, Slonaker Award; College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College Alumni Council Award of Excellence; and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College Alumni Council Red and Blue Award.

* Thanks goes to Glenn Wright (Plant Sciences), Mike Kilby (Plant Sciences), editors, and all of the CALS Contributors for producing the 2000 Citrus and Deciduous Fruit and Nut Research Report, sponsored by the Arizona Citrus Research Council.

* The Maricopa Agricultural Center with its Ag-Ventures at the Farm program is the recent recipient of $27,000 from various community sources. These funds will be applied towards the development of the Ag-Venture Village at MAC in addition to helping support the educational program outreach taking place at this center. If you wish to know more about this successful Ag-Literacy program, contact Victor Jimenez. It's all happening at the Farm.

* It's not too late to register for the "Anticipate Excellence - Pathways to Success" ­ a live satellite conference on Thursday, November 30 from 10:00-12:00. Sponsored by the CALS Diversity Committee and Epsilon Sigma Phi (the National Extension Professional's Organization of Cooperative Extension) and in cooperation with Utah State University, the program will feature video clips of the gold medal award winning programs of excellence. The CALS Diversity Committee will receive a Silver Medal for their "Partners For Life: A Service Dog's Tale" video. The program is designed to gain deeper insight into methods, technology and successful partnerships that will enhance Extension programs and further lead Extension units toward being an Engaged Institution. The video conference can be viewed in three locations: Forbes 307, University of Arizona campus, the Maricopa County Extension Office, 4341 E. Broadway Road, Phoenix, and the Yuma County Extension Office, 2200 W. 28th Street, Suite 102, Yuma. To register, please contact Steven Crofts (520-621-7145, scrofts@cals.arizona.edu).

* Annual Conference registration begins at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 6 in the Student Union, Senior Ballroom. Poster set-up is scheduled from 9-11 AM in the Senior Ballroom. The Dean's Welcome and a presentation by Provost George Davis begin at 11:30 with lunch being served at 12:00. We will have an AAEA Barbeque and Auction at 6:00 PM in the Forbes courtyard. Lodging at the Doubletree Hotel (445 S. Alvernon) is closed since the hotel is filled to capacity on 12/6. On Thursday, December 7, our conference continues with a Continental Breakfast at the DoubleTree at 7:30 AM and our program begins promptly at 8:00 AM. The conference concludes at 1:30 PM.
