Tuesday Morning Notes

December 5th, 2000

Please drive carefully to Tucson for this year's Annual Faculty Conference. We look forward to hosting another successful event and providing an opportunity to network across programmatic lines. Try to meet someone you might have heard about but haven't had the opportunity to meet.

* The CALS "Ag Tones" (our college's impromptu choir which performs once a year) will present music for the all-college Holiday Party Thursday, December 14 from 3 to 4:30. This year, the Ag Tones have had a request to also provide backup vocals for the "Fab Five's" rendition of the old classic "Jingle Bells". Everyone in the college (whether they can sing or not) is invited to join the Ag Tones for this precedent-breaking event. There will be one rehearsal on the day of the party. It will occur from 2 to 3 in Forbes 307. Please RSVP to Steve Crofts: scrofts@cals.arizona.edu or 621-7145 for additional instructions.

* John Mackovic, former head coach of three different major universities and the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, was named by University of Arizona athletics director Jim Livengood as the program's head football coach on 12/4/00. Mackovic, 57, becomes Arizona's 26th head coach and succeeds Dick Tomey, who resigned Nov. 24 after 14 years directing the program. Mackovic has been a college football analyst for ESPN since 1998. Welcome Aboard!

* If you have any programs that you would like to feature in future issues of Tuesday Morning Notes, please forward the information to Jack Roberts at jroberts@cals.arizona.edu.
