The Faculty Senate has approved the name change for the College of Agriculture to the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Final approval is needed from the Arizona Board of Regents. Thanks to our Faculty Senators and to everyone who worked on this endeavor.

* The Maricopa Agricultural Center (the MAC Farm) with its national award winning Farm Filled Ag-Ventures program is the recipient of a $30,000 grant from the Arizona Advisory Council on Environmental Education. Funding from this grant will be used to help build an educational 'Ag-Venture Village' at this research and educational farm. As educators and youth from throughout Arizona experience the worthwhile educational programs at MAC, the interest continues to grow. Contact Vic Jimenez at 520/568-2273 if you want your community involved in this educational MAC experience. It's all happening at the Farm!! Congratulations!

* Three Quickbooks Pro Regional Training Sessions (July 12 - Flagstaff; July 14 - Phoenix; and July 27 - Tucson) for off-campus staff who manage FRS accounts are filling up quickly. For more information, contact Steven Crofts at 520/621-7145, or by e-mail, scrofts@cals.arizona.edu.

* Mark your calendars for the Arizona Ecological Site Symposium, Thursday, August 17-19, 2000 at the Holiday Inn, Palo Verde, Tucson. Learn about significant changes occurring in the way we describe and evaluate the health and condition of rangelands. Hosted by the Arizona Section, Society for Rangeland Management and co-sponsored by Arizona Cooperative Extension.

* Search Updates:

- Dr. Carlos Lazcano will interview for the Vegetable Specialist position in Tucson on May 17 and in Yuma on May 18, 2000. His Seminar, entitled "Agriculture in the 21st Century ­ Challenges and Opportunities for a Vegetable Specialist" will be held in Tucson at 11:00 AM in Marley 230, and at 10:00 AM at the Yuma Ag. Center, Valley Station. Contact Dr. Jeff Silvertooth for more detailed information.
- Dr. Joe Hiller, Native American Programs Assistant Director candidate will interview on campus on May 18 and in the Maricopa County Office on May 19. Dr. J.D. McNutt will interview on June 5 on campus, and June 6 in the Maricopa County Office. Contact Pat Reid for more details.
- Graham County Assistant/Associate Agent, Agriculture candidates will interview on June 7 on campus, and June 8 in Graham County. Contact Carol Willis for more details.
