* Congratulations to Monica Pastor (Maricopa County) who will be honored at Arizona Ag Day next Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at Wesley Bolin Plaza, Arizona State Capitol, 17th Ave. & Washington, Phoenix, as this year's recipient of the "Friend of Agriculture" Award.

* Welcome to Jill Rubio, Arizona Coordinator for Project Learning Tree. Jill will be working with Kerry Schwartz (Arizona Coordinator for Project WET) at the Water Resources Research Center to deliver educational programs to agents, teachers, and community volunteers. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Arizona and experience working as a research technician, interpretive ranger, and naturalist. * Interviews are scheduled for Assistant/Associate Agent, 4-H Youth Development, Yavapai County for Monday, March 12, 2001 on campus. Mark Cambron will be presenting his web-cast seminar at 8:30; Rick Richardson's seminar will be at 2:15; Matt Summers' seminar at 3:30. More details to follow.

* REMINDER: What is Arizona Cooperative Extension doing today in leadership development? We are conducting a state-wide survey to assess the need and interest for coordinating all Extension leadership programs. Please take a few moments to complete this survey which you should have received last week. Your input will be used to provide recommendations for future leadership development programs. * Thanks to Mark Arns, Peder Cuneo, and Bill Schurg for making the First Annual Horse Health Seminar a huge success. There will be a Second Annual Horse Health Seminar on February 9, 2002.

* Navajo County is offering an _Arborist_ training and certification program June 11-16, 2001 in Show Low. Cost is $294.95. There are $250.00 scholarships available from the Arizona Community Tree Council. If a scholarship is accepted participants must provide 40 hours of approved community service consistent with the subject matter. For application materials please contact Steve Campbell. Application deadline is March 19, 2001. If there are clientele within a given county who might be interested please provide this information to them.

* Cynthia Flynn began her sabbatical in 1998 and completed the balance of her study in 1999. Her project titled "Counties in the Shadow of the University" looked at the issues and relationships of urban Cooperative Extension offices that are located in close proximity to the land-grant institution. * A one-day conference, "2001: A Family Life Odyssey" will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2001 at Amphi High School in Tucson. The conference will focus on recent social development research of interest to professionals and paraprofessionals working with children, youth and families. Beginning at 8:30 a.m., speakers will focus on attachment as a basis for social development, building healthy relationships in early childhood, transitions in adolescence and the social development issues & the baby boomer generation.
