* Youth financial education is critical to the financial future of the US
and well within the mission of Cooperative Extension. Janice Shelton
recently participated in the NEFE Youth Financial Education Conference
"Catch the Vision: Join the Journey". With the new three-way partnership of
NEFE, Cooperative Extension, and America's credit unions, the potential to
bring the High School Financial Planning Program to more high school
students is exponentially increased. Contact Janice
(shelton@cals.arizona.edu) for more details.
* Natural Resources and Land Use Planning In-Service - December 4-6, 2001,
Tucson - get these dates in your calendar. The Natural Resources Education
Committee is organizing an in-service training in conjunction with the Ag
Agents winter meeting, BBQ, and auction. This in-service will focus on
water resources and watersheds and how they are affected by land uses. This
in-service is relevant in both urban and rural settings for Extension
Agents and staff working in agriculture, natural resources, 4-H, livestock,
water quality/food safety, and community/economic development. CEDs will
also find this information valuable in working with county government
officials. Contact Jeff Schalau for details, jschalau@cals.arizona.edu
* Congratulations to Curt Peters, as the Second Quarter IDEA's award
recipient for his IDEA of posting the candidate evaluation form as a web
form so those watching the broadcasted internet interviews can have
immediate input to the Search Committee and be a part of the hiring process
with out impractical or cost-ineffective travel.
