The CALS Administrative Retreat will occur on May 13-14, 2002 beginning with a luncheon and an afternoon session with unit heads and their business managers. The focus for most of the meeting will be on budget and future directions.

* The 13th Annual All Native American Indian Livestock Field Day will be held Thursday, April 25, at Peach Springs, Arizona on the Hualapai Nation from 9:00am - 4:00pm. The event is sponsored by the Southwest Indian Agricultural Association (SWIAA) and the University of Arizona CALS and hosted by the Hualapai Nation. Pre-registration is due by April 10. * The 10th annual Los Vaqueros de la Tierra trail ride will take place on April 25-28, 2002, and one of its beneficiaries is Arizona 4-H! The ride kicks off with a pre-ride party on April 24th. Experience the splendor of the Old West and visit historic and scenic sites in the Sonoita/Patagonia area on horseback. From the base camp near Elgin, enjoy a daily ride, nightly entertainment, and a gymkana on Saturday afternoon. From the base camp in Elgin, the four day trail ride will provide fun and entertainment for all -- so support 4-H and invite your family and friends to ride along! * Pinal County 4-H is holding a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Faul 4-H Learning Center, Thursday, March 21 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Pinal County Fairgrounds. R.S.V.P. by March 19th to (520) 836-5221, extension 213.

* Winegrape Production: A Viticulture Shortcourse will be held March 28-30, 2002 at the UA Campus Ag Center in Tucson. The course will cover the planning, establishment, and growing of wine grapes in Arizona and is designed for potential wine grape and commercial wine grape growers. * The Arizona Noxious, Invasive Plant Summit will held at the Radisson Hotel, in Tucson, April 25 & 26, 2002. Major goals of the Summit are to: 1) Raise awareness and share information and knowledge about the problems associated with noxious, invasive plants nationally and regionally, with special emphasis on Arizona, 2) Encourage land managers and citizens to cooperatively participate in local noxious, invasive plant management efforts in Arizona, 3) Strengthen the institutional infrastructure for invasive plant management in Arizona.
