Tuesday Morning Notes

April 23rd, 2002

Congratulations to Linda Ffolliott as recipient of the 2002 ACE Information Technology Award for Excellence. Ashley Wood, President of the Agricultural Communicators in Education announced her award.

* Extension is proud to present "A Bridge Across the State" publication which focuses on the outreach programs of Extension. Each County will soon be receiving 125 issues for outreach purposes, and I invite anyone interested in receiving an issue to please call 621-7205 for a copy. We want to get these magazines to elected officials, key clientele, and others who impact funding and/or support for the College and County Programs. We would like to track our audience - please give Dotty a distribution list.

* Outreach Day at the State Legislature occurred on April 15, 2002 enabling positive interaction and discussion and the opportunity to showcase programs with Representatives and Senators. We thank Pat Clay and Ron Rayner, a farmer from Goodyear who had the opportunity to have some one on one discussion with legislators and discuss the value of Cooperative Extension and its programs. Sharon Hoelscher Day partnered with Nancy Simmons, a Bone Builder volunteer, and Marta Stuart partnered with Miguel Gradillas, a Food Safety volunteer, and had the opportunity to spend the day with different State Legislators in coordination with the University State Relations office.

* The 13th Annual All Native American Indian Livestock Field Day will be held Thursday, April 25, at Peach Springs, Arizona on the Hualapai Nation from 9:00am - 4:00pm. The event is sponsored by the Southwest Indian Agricultural Association (SWIAA) and the University of Arizona CALS and hosted by the Hualapai Nation. Registration is $15.00. Our thanks to the Mohave County office personnel (Rob Grumbles, Grace Brock, and Joyce Hendricks) who printed the program and are helping out at the field day, and to Howard Jones, who has been our representative to SWIAA for this program. Thanks also to Ina Holm for her coordination efforts and to Bob Kattnig who will make two presentations, and also to our faculty and staff for making this a successful annual program.
