* The University of Arizona and the Arizona Aquaculture Association will be hosting an aquaculture field day on Wednesday, May 15 at the Maricopa Agriculture Center. The field day will include presentations on advances in aquaculture technology, equipment and techniques presented by University researchers and several producers in the state. Kevin Fitzsimmons will provide a state of the industry presentation reviewing changes at farms around the state, new markets for aquatic products, and significant events that are impacting aquaculture in the state. After a luncheon, provided by the University, we will have a tour of local fish farms. There will be no charge for the meeting but please contact Kevin at 520-626-3324 to register so they know how many sandwiches to provide.

* Please mark your calendars for the CALS 2002 Faculty Conference: August 27-29, 2002 at the Omni Tucson Golf Resort and Spa. Baxter Black, cowboy poet and former large animal veterinarian, as heard on National Public Radio, will be our guest luncheon speaker on August 27, 2002. Please come and participate in this biannual event. * On April 18, 2002 a 3-D memo of the Revised Policy on Compensatory Time Classified Staff Human Resources Policy 311.0, "Overtime/Compensatory Time," has been updated to allow part-time non-exempt employees to accrue compensatory time for hours worked in excess of their FTE. This change will provide more flexibility to units and potentially provide these employees with a source of income for the closure dates. Note: Please remember that Classified Staff non-exempt employees may earn compensatory time any time during the year when 1) there is a bona fide work the employee is qualified to perform, AND 2) the employee's supervisor authorizes the hours in advance. Please direct questions to Human Resources at 621-3662 or infoexpress@listserv.arizona.edu.

* The State Ag Literacy Committee will pay the $50 registration fee for state educators to attend three popular workshops: Food, Land, People; Project Learning Tree; and Project Wet. June 26-27 at the Maricopa County Extension office. Contact Vic Jimenez (vjimenez@cals.arizona.edu) or Monica Pastor (mpastor@cals.arizona.edu) for details.

* Deadlines for proposals to Deborah Young: Program proposals - May 15; Working Group proposals - June 1.
