* The 2002 Cotton Field Days was such a great success this year with approximately 450 people in attendance. Cotton Field Days involved hours and hours of hard work from so many people who made this year's event such a success. "I thank all of you for your time and dedication."

* The "stars" shone exceptionally bright this past Saturday at the Clover Gala! The evening honored twenty-one volunteers who collectively represent over 700 years of service to the 4-H Youth Development Program of Arizona. Over 140 friends and family members gathered to salute the inaugural class of Clover Medallion recipients into the Arizona 4-H Hall of Fame. The honorees were piped in by Tod Gregoire. With Dr. William L. Peterson presiding as master of ceremonies, the evening kicked off with a reception, a harpist, and a trip down memory lane through the 4-H decades. Historical memorabilia was assembled by Julie Adamcin and Tina Christiansen. The Dean presented the welcome and a slide presentation ran during the meal. The honorees were presented the Clover Medallion by Bill and me. Throughout the meal and the presentation, the Rich Stanley Quartet played tunes through the decades. A celebratory toast was given, bubbles were blown, and poppers of streamers strewn. It was truly a "star" lit night at the Centennial Clover Gala! "I wish to commend the State 4-H staff and county personnel who did such a wonderful job in setting up the evening and the many extension agents who facilitated the selection of the individuals who were honored as well as who attended this recognition and fund raising event."

* On October 4-5, 2002, the University of Arizona hosted at RangeView Workshop for Natural Resource Agency Personnel. Participants were identified by Extension professionals in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. The workshop was organized by Barron Orr and Stuart Marsh and a team of 15 students and staff from the Arizona Remote Sensing Center and the Arid Lands Information Center. There were 53 participants from 18 different government agencies from all corners of Arizona (as well as a few from New Mexico and Utah). The RangeView website (http://rangeview.arizona.edu/) includes updates on geospatial tools for natural resource management that came from Extension professionals in a June 2002 workshop. The attendee list for this more recent event can be found at http://rangeview.arizona.edu/oct4-5attendees.html -- check to see who was able to make it from your area. On behalf of all the project investigators - Barron Orr, Stuart Marsh, Barbara Hutchinson, Larry Howery, George Ruyle, and Paul Krausman - we would like to thank all those who have contributed to RangeView, and in particular the UA Library System, who provided logistical support and excellent facilities (Main Lib InfoCommons Classroom) located in the Integrated Learning Center.
