Tuesday Morning Notes

May 7th, 2002

We welcome Dana Flowers, Water Education Specialist who is working on the Water Education for Teachers (WET) and other projects in Maricopa County. She can be reached at 602.470.8086 ext. 822, and her e-mail address is: dflowers@cals.arizona.edu.

* All Extension faculty are invited to attend the forest health workshop to be held on May 23, in conjunction with the Arizona Agriculture Extension Association meeting. You do not have to be a AAEA member to attend this workshop. Arizona Cooperative Extension, in cooperation with the School of Renewable Natural Resources, received a contract with USFS in forest health. The field trip will be led by entomologists and plant pathologists from USFS, Flagstaff. Come and learn how to keep our forests healthy --- and how to keep them from burning this summer. Please RSVP to: Doug Rautenkranz, Interim Forest Health Coordinator, rautenkr@email.arizona.edu.

* "RangeView" Remote Sensing Training -- May 28, 2002 - Tucson (Biosciences East instructional lab). The training will introduce remote sensing and the use of satellite imagery, primarily for natural resource applications (for you more Ag-focused agents, a specially tailored training for agriculture applications will be scheduled for late summer, but this May 28 training would be an excellent introduction). Contact Barron Orr for details, barron@cals.arizona.edu.

* The State Ag Literacy Committee will pay the $50 registration fee for state educators to attend three popular workshops: Food, Land, People; Project Learning Tree; and Project Wet. June 26-27 at the Maricopa County Extension office. Contact Vic Jimenez (vjimenez@cals.arizona.edu) or Monica Pastor (mpastor@cals.arizona.edu) for details.

* Deadlines for proposals to Deborah Young: Program proposals - May 15; Working Group proposals - June 1.
