Tuesday Morning Notes

June 3, 2003

Welcome to Jorge Fonseca-Laurent, the new vegetable specialist at the Yuma Agricultural Center. He came to Arizona from Clemson University where he received his Ph.D. in Food Technology and has experience in postharvest physiology and technology, packaging sciences, and business administration. His first day was June 2.

I am also pleased to announce that after four searches, Matthew J. VanBaale has accepted the position of Dairy Extension Specialist effective May 27, 2003.

Congratulations to Mike & Joelle Hauser on the birth of their daughter, Lindy Kay, on Tuesday, May 27. Lindy Kay weighed in at 7 lbs. 2 oz. and arrived with a full head of dark black hair. Mike reported that Mom and baby are doing just fine.

A diverse group of faculty, agency personnel, and climate aficionados from throughout the state attended the May 29 "Extension and Climate" meeting. We had significant impacts-as a result of the meeting, it rained in Tucson Thursday night! We expect to have additional resources to provide climate related programs in the future. Thanks to the planning committee of Dan Osgood, Paul Brown, Gregg Garfin (CLIMAS), and Deborah Young.
