Tuesday Morning Notes

June 10, 2003

Congratulations to Liz Didier, Linda Masters, and Matt Livingston for receiving pilot EIRP professional development grants from the Western Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program.

The "Budget Impacts" PowerPoint presentation is now available on the Extension website. To view, or download a copy, click on "About Extension."

The registration form for the 10th Annual Maricopa County Summer Short Course, "Invasive Plant School," August 27-28, is now available and downloadable from: http://ag.arizona.edu/crops/counties/all/meetings/2003/shortcourse082703.pdf.

The Arizona Forage Producers Association, formed earlier this year, has a website that is now up and officially running (http://www.az-fpa.org).

Reminder: Jim and Shirley O'Brien are retiring after 55 years (together) at the University of Arizona. Jim, Professor of Music and Dance, College of Fine Arts, and Shirley, Associate Director, Cooperative Extension, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, are celebrating their years at the University with a "Thanks for the Memories" dinner party to announce the funding of the O'Brien Endowment. The event will be Friday, June 27 at SaddleBrooke's Mountainview Country Club, 5:30 p.m. There will be a buffet dinner followed by a musical video show. If you would like an invitation to this celebration, contact Dr. Bryan Rowland, Director, CALS Development/Alumni Office, Forbes 325, 520-621-7190 or Steven Crofts, 520-621-7145, scrofts@ag.arizona.edu.

The previously advertised University of Arizona football tickets were hot sellers and then some folks had schedule changes so now there are three games left: August 30 (UTEP 7:00 p.m.-since no one really wants this set, it has been put on the market as a freebie!) However, the September 27 (Texas Christian University 7:00 p.m.) and October 11 (UCLA 4:00 p.m. Family Weekend) are available. If you are afflicted with acrophobia, you might not want these seats since they are in the front row of the upper East side balcony. Single ticket prices range from $23 to 27 but these are available for $15 for one or $25 for two. If you are interested in any of these games, please contact Shirley at 520 621 7145.
