Arizona Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences is pleased to announce the following 2003 awards: Educator of the Year - Ruth Jackson, Continued Excellence - Lynne Durrant, and Distinguished Service Award - Patty Merk. Each of these women is recognized for their outstanding programs. Congratulations!

All women who are involved in agriculture are invited to the Seventh Annual Women in Agriculture Conference. This conference is cosponsored by CALS and the Arizona Farm Bureau. Nationally recognized and Certified Speaking Professional, Jolene Brown, will lead the lunch and afternoon session. The conference kicks off with a get acquainted activity on July 17 at 7pm and then you will spend July 18, "Getting Ready...Head to Toe." The registration form can be found at http://azfb.org/wiac.htm. Registration is $30 and includes lunch on July 18. The conference will be held at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa. Room reservations can be made directly with the Hilton by calling 1-800-544-5866. Room cost is $59 single or double occupancy. The Second Annual Arizona Weed Contest will be held on August 13, 2003 at the Maricopa Agricultural Center. Six CEUs will be applied for from both Arizona and California for those attending. Sessions will include Weed Identification, Herbicide Identification, Equipment Calibration, Production Problem Solving, Weed Training, and a Tour of Weed Control Demonstration Plots. A reminder that the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension 10th Annual Maricopa County Summer Short Course, "Invasive Plant School," will take place August 27-28, 2003 at the Maricopa County Cooperative Extension Office, 4341 E. Broadway, Phoenix. There will be a registration fee for the short course and enrollment will be limited.
