Cochise County has received the last two Extensionist of the Year awards. We need some nominations from other counties and have some wonderful leaders that need to be recognized. Please let us hear about these people through nominations. Remember, the Extension Faculty of the Year and the Extensionist of the Year awards for 2003 will be presented at the Dean's Fall Faculty/Staff Meeting. The deadline for award nominations is September 2, 2003. Faculty of the Year Award criteria and guidelines can be found at http://cals.arizona.edu/awards/extfacultyawd.html and a nomination form for the Extensionist of the Year Award is available in PDF format at http://cals.arizona.edu/extension/temp/2003_Nomination_Form.pdf.
The "Request for Cooperative Extension Fee Waiver Form" for those families and individuals unable to afford the $10 program fee for Cooperative Extension programs is available at the following link http://cals.arizona.edu/extension/temp/Fee_Waiver_Form.pdf in a downloadable PDF format. ECAT is offering two distance classes in the fall-Dreamweaver Basics (9/3-10/8) and Creating and Modifying Images for a Website Using Photoshop 7 (10/16-11/6). Each class will be taught using WebCT, can be accessed through your local computer/browser, has a fee of $20 each per registrant (payable by IDB or personal check), and a time commitment for each class would be about 2 hours per week. Both classes are open to College employees, students, and volunteers, but volunteers would need to be sponsored by the appropriate department/county in order to get a University NetID to use the WebCT system. For details about each class, prerequisites and requirements, see links off the general ECAT classes page at http://cals.arizona.edu/ecat/classes/.
The Arid Lands Newsletter No. 53, "Using geospatial technologies to develop participatory tools for natural resources management," is now available online at http://ag.arizona.edu/OALS/ALN/aln53/aln53toc.html.
The RangeView website (http://rangeview.arizona.edu/) has been upgraded with some key data layers added to the "Dynamic Animation Tool" to make it much easier to locate an area of interest. These include USDA Forest Service "forest boundaries" and "allotments" as well as a Township and Range layer. In addition, there is a RangeView Workshop for Agency Personnel scheduled for October 3-4. For more information, contact Barron Orr at 626-8063 or barron@ag.arizona.edu.
