IMPORTANT!!! Original signatures must be submitted on grant proposal routing sheet. Proposals cannot be forwarded without them faxed copies are no longer acceptable the Principal Investigator's signature cannot be delegated. Please keep this in mind and plan ahead so that proposals can be routed in a timely manner.

The deadline for applying for "The Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Scholars Program" is April 15. This program will focus on a county faculty who has part of their appointment in either Family and Consumer Sciences or 4-H Youth Development. The FCS Extension Scholars Program will invest in building the scholarship expertise of county Faculty by providing a two-year program offering the opportunity to learn important skills needed to demonstrate scholarship. Cynthia Flynn, Beth Tucker, Steve Husman, Dan McDonald, Donna Peterson and Sherry Betts recently returned from one week working with colleagues at the University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica. This project is funded by a small grant to "internationalize Cooperative Extension." They had the opportunity to visit agricultural training schools and colleges, elementary and high schools, community groups and events, and the University of Technology campus. A group of six Jamaicans will come to Arizona in June to complete the project. Contact any one of the Arizona team to learn more.

Kinship Kare of Northern Arizona has been awarded one of only fifteen national grants by the Brookdale Foundation, Relatives As Parents Program for 2004-2005. This grant will support programming for a pilot Grandparents Mentor Program that will focus on documentation and development. Funds from Northern Arizona Council of Governments are supporting the implementation and training of grandparent volunteers. Michele Lytle, KKONA Extension Coordinator will be attending an orientation program by Brookdale in New Jersey.

The 13th Annual Desert Horticulture Conference will be held on Friday, May 21 at the Tucson Community Center from 7:30am until 2:30pm. The conference is open to all members of the Green Industry: landscape architects, designers, growers, retailers, contractors, maintenance personnel and suppliers. The registration fee is $45 if paid before May 10, and $70 after May 10. The fee includes a deli-style lunch buffet. CEU's will be available for: The Structural Pest Control Commission, International Society of Arboriculture, and the Irrigation Association.
