ERE (faculty/staff benefits) has risen greatly over the past several years.
The increased ERE cause real budgetary problems. The state legislative said
it would pick up the new cost. The university said they would pick it up if
the state did not. The bottom line is that the state passed the increase on
to the University, a 12 million dollar problem. The Provost plans to pick up
half the bill (6 million) and passing the other 6 million down to the
colleges. This means that everyone is facing some cuts. It works out to be
2.06% of faculty and staff salaries across the University.

things that may assist the program to be stronger and more consistent across
