The San Carlos Indian Reservation Office has officially moved and their new mailing and shipping address is 400 Apache Avenue, San Carlos, AZ, 85550. Phone and fax numbers will stay the same.

Two weeks ago, all faculty, department heads and school directors were emailed a memo regarding the upcoming Professional Development and Visionary Meeting, March 3-4, at the Sheraton Hotel in Phoenix.  You can now register for the meeting at http://cals.arizona.edu/exact/careerdev/ .  The professional development working group has developed an exciting program pertinent to faculty in all program areas and in all stages of their career. The main speaker will be Roger Rennekamp from the University of Kentucky. On March 3, from 10:00-4:00, there will be a professional development workshop focusing on career development and professional growth.  That evening and the following morning, County Extension Directors will discuss statewide efforts and issues.  On March 4, from 10:00-3:00, county faculty, CEDs and specialists are invited to discuss vertical integration and strategic planning as they relate to the Provost's focused excellence goals and Earth and Environmental Programs.  The registration deadline is February 7, so mark your calendars and complete the registration.

The 17th annual meeting of the Southwest Indian Agriculture Association(SWIAA)  was held last week in Laughlin, NV.  Over 240 people were in attendance.  Tribes from Arizona, Nevada, California, along with New Mexico tribes and pueblos were represented.  Federal and state agencies such as National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)  (Nevada and Arizona), USDA Animal, Plant Health, Inspection Service (APHIS),  AZ State Veterinarian were on the program along with the Montana-Wyoming Indian Stockgrowers Association, and Russ Tronsted and Trent Teegerstrom.  Other UA personnel attending and supporting included CALS Dean Gene Sander, representatives from Maricopa County, CALS Academic Programs, Extension Indian Reservation Program Agents and Office of Native American Programs. SWIAA 18 will be held about the same time next year; you are invited to attend/present/participate.  Stay tuned for notice of upcoming Indian Livestock Field Days--tentatively scheduled for May 05 at the Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation reservation near Scottsdale.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

February 4: Arizona Forage Producers Association will hold their 3rd Annual Meeting at the Maricopa Ag Center from 9:00-2:30pm. Topics include Roundup Ready Alfalfa; Hay Fertilization, Production and Marketing; and Water, Power and Drought Effects on Forage Producers. Registration begins at 8:00am. February 18: Arizona Agriculture Extension Association 2005 Winter Professional Improvement meeting will be held from 8:30-3:30 at the Karsten Turf Facility, 2010 E. Roger Road, Tucson. February 22:  20th Annual Arizona Agribusiness Forum, Phoenix Hilton East, Mesa.  The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Arizona, with major sponsorship from Risk Management Agency, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Cardon Endowment for Agricultural and Resource Economics, are pleased to bring this conference opportunity to you. April 6: University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center's Annual Conference, "Water and the Environment: The Role of Ecosystem Restoration," will be held at the Radisson Hotel. The one-day conference will feature a mix of keynote speakers, panel discussions and commentary addressing this topic.
