Fred Harper, former Extension Agent in Maricopa County, died last week of a massive heart attack in Tallahassee, Florida. Fred retired in 1992, after 22 years with Cooperative Extension. Our condolences go out to his wife, Carol, and his family.

Condolences also go out to the Cardon family. Bart Cardon, Dean Emeritus of the College of Agriculture, past president and founding member of the 4-H Foundation, and longtime supporter of Arizona's agricultural industry and youth, passed away yesterday. A private service will be held with the family in the near future, and a public memorial will be held at a later time. On behalf of the Review Committee for Dean Sander's Five Year Administrative Review, all Extension faculty and staff are invited to attend an open forum on Thursday, April 7 from 9:30-11:00am in the Mesquite Room of the University of Arizona Student Union. Your input and evaluations are critical to the development of a complete and constructive review for Dean Sander.

The webcasting presentation for the Yavapai County Assistant/Associate Agent, 4-H Youth Development will be Monday, April 4, 2005. The title of the webcast is "Building the Capacity of the Yavapai County 4-H Youth Development Program: A Three to Five Year Plan For Success" and can be viewed at cals.arizona.edu/extension/webcasts.html. UPCOMING DATES:

April 1: Celebrate Women from all facets of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences community with "An Evening of Inspiration for the Women of Agriculture and Life Sciences," keynote speaker Dr. Brenda Seevers, New Mexico State University. April 12-13: The Southwest Indian Agricultural Association 2005 Indian Livestock Field Days will be held at the Ft. McDowell Recreation Center. Registration is $30 (and $10 for students). The event, which is open to the public, includes programs on the National Animal Identification System, foreign animal disease, and invasive weed control. April 21: The promotion and tenure/continuing status process and preparation of dossiers workshop will be held at the Student Union, Gallagher Theatre from 3:00-5:00pm. The workshop will be conducted in a way to give ample opportunity for individuals to ask questions about the review process. Material will be distributed that will be helpful as faculty members and professionals prepare their dossiers for review in 2005-2006. Instructions for preparation of dossiers will be distributed on April 1.
