Linda Folliott is planning to offer various web-related classes for the fall semester. Some will have a registration fee and others will be free demonstrations on campus. The AZ 4-H Youth Adult Council (YAC) has been selected as the National Winner in the Beyond Youth Leadership Grant category for NAE4-HA. The team of Bryan Chadd, Lisa Lauxman, Jan Norquest, Amy Parrott and Bob Peterson will be announced as the NAE4-HA National Winner for their work with YAC November 2, 2005 at the National Conference. The announcement of the award included the statement that this is an "outstanding contribution" in the field of Youth Developoment. Congratulations and good work.
Many excellent proposals for state Program dollars were received. For the coming year (July 1, 2005 - June 30, 2006), Extension Programs will allocate $63,000 for working groups, $56,000 for state initiatives, and $50,000 for enhancement awards. Email announcements will be sent to the team leaders this week.
The June 2005 CLIMAS Southwest Climate Outlook is online. This month's outlook provides recent drought conditions and the latest seasonal forecasts. This month's feature article is entitled"Monsoon could strengthen as climate warms."
The Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee met last week and sent its spending bill for F.Y. 2006 on to the full Senate Appropriations Committee for consideration. As you know, this measure contains funding for programs administered by the USDA's Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES).
