As noted in last week's TMN concerning Background Checks and Fingerprinting, we were a bit ahead of the University. Fingerprinting is coming but is not in effect yet. As soon as Human Resources has the specific procedures worked out, we will let you know.

The webcasting presentation for the Pinal County Assistant/Associate Agent, 4-H Youth Development will be Monday, August 29. Congratulations to Russ Tronstad who received the Outstanding Extension Program Award at this year's Annual Meting of the Western Agriculture Economics Association. At the National Agriculture Economics meeting, Paul Wilson received the Distinguished Teaching Award and Rob Innes became a Fellow of AAEA.

CALS Staff In-Service 2005 will be held in Tucson at the Sheraton Hotel (the old Hotel Park, 5151 E. Grant Road), Tucson, November 9-10. As a part of the Extension Staff Awards Luncheon on November 10, the 2005 Outstanding Staff in Cooperative Extension Award will be presented. Arizona Extension has many excellent staff and I strongly encourage you as a faculty member, CED or staff person to submit your recommendations for these awards by Monday, September 19. A Weed Management Workshop will be held in Parker on September 8 at the Parker Elks Lodge, 711 Laguna Ave. The focus is to provide growers with new information and data concerning control of weeds that are of particular concern in the area.
