Congratulations to Dan McDonald, Donna Peterson and Sherry Betts for their second of a four article series in the October issue of the Journal of Extension. There will be three candidate web casts for the Assistant/Associate Agent, Water/Natural Resources position in Maricopa County on Monday, December 5: Teri Conrad (8:45-9:30am), Kelly Lafferty (10:15-11:00am), and Robin Stinnett (1:15-2:00pm). A final reminder that the deadline for feedback from Extension agents, specialists and staff regarding what kinds of technologies are or could be useful in performing your work is next Monday, December 5. If you haven’t done so already, please take some time to answer the technology survey at http://cals.arizona.edu/exact/tech/. Ideally, we will be able to create a "wish list" for future planning, as well as get an idea of what is being used currently.

CALS, Yuma Cooperative Extension, the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics & the Risk Management Agency of the USDA will be presenting a “Yuma Forage, Marketing and Risk Management Workshop” tomorrow, Wednesday, November 30, at the Yuma County auditorium, 2200 W. 28th Street, Yuma. The Colorado River Forage and Risk Management Workshop will take place on Thursday, December 1 at the Arizona Western College, 601 11th Street in Parker from 8:00am (check in and registration) to 12:00 noon. Agenda items will cover forage market analysis, optimizing a forage mix for your operation amidst resource and risk constraints, whole farm insurance options and estate planning decisions, and utilizing the Arizona Crop Information website. Epsilon Sigma Phi is hosting a 75-minute web-based seminar entitled “Reflections on Extension Leadership” on Wednesday, December 14 at 12:45pm EST. The seminar will feature panel members representing county, state and administrative positions in Extension who will share their perspectives, experiences and insights on leadership. You can join the presentation by web browser and speakerphone. The cost is $18 (for ESP members) or $25 (for non-members). La Paz County Cooperative Extension in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Agriculture Consultation & Training Program are hosting a Farm Safety Workshop from 8:00am-1:00pm on Thursday, December 15 (Bruce Church Farm Equipment Shop, Parker Valley) and on Friday, December 16 (Avi Kwa Ami Farm Office, Mohave Valley).
