Congratulations to Monica Pastor for receiving the Outstanding Research Poster Award (for “The Arizona Summer Agriculture Institute”) at the recent Western Region Agricultural Education Research Conference in Boise, Idaho.
Congratulations to Frank Stryker, winner of the 2005 Extensionist of the Year Award, and Joyce Cadenhead, winner of the Carol Knowles Award for Excellence in Development and Alumni Relations. Both were presented their awards at the Annual Spring Awards Banquet last Friday, May 5.
Please join us at the Westward Look Resort for this year's CALS Faculty Conference -- The Land Grant Vision -- from August 15- 17. Dr. Robert Shelton, the University of Arizona's incoming President, will be our keynote speaker at 1:00pm on August 15. . A special thanks to Debby Janes for getting us on Dr. Shelton's calendar. Conference highlights will include state working group activities, the latest research findings from faculty, as well as panel presentations and discussion on tailoring the Cooperative Extension message to your audiences. In addition, there will be the annual poster session, working group meetings, awards luncheon, golf and fitness programs, and plenty of networking opportunities. On-line conference registration for participation, poster session, working group presentations, and research report sessions will be available later this month. Deadlines are as follows: July 7 - Working Group Presentations/Research Report Sessions, July 14 – Registration, July 21 - Poster Session.
Former Maricopa County EFNEP aide, Connie Brice, passed away April 27 after a long illness. She spent 21 years working in the EFNEP Program. During her career, Connie was named Home Economist of the Year for 1988 and in 1989 received the Hohokam Award as an Outstanding Professional. In 1984, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from ASU. She was active in her church and community, serving on many civic organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Housing For Mesa, 251 W. Main, Mesa, AZ or the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Queen of Peace Church. Our condolences to all family and friends.
