I wanted to announce that this year's Extension portion of the staff in-service (November 2-3) has been cancelled due to budget cuts. As much as I consider these events an important part of our teamwork goals, budget cuts and possible future cuts have brought us to this decision. Our plan is to have Faculty Conference this year, Staff In-Service next year and continue alternating the two. The college staff in-service is still being planned for November 2. All staff will be invited, but for those wishing to attend from our off-campus Extension locations, costs for attendance (mileage, lodging) must be paid for at the county level and cannot be covered by our office.
This is your reminder that each faculty member has the opportunity each year to review their position description with the county director or department head. To see your current position description (or to compare it with another), go to APROL and click on "review submitted APRs" from the main menu. This will allow you to look at the annual performance report, as well as the position description (item A) and the plans for the coming year (items B and C).
Upcoming Events & Reminders:
The Arizona Pest Management Center Summit 2006 will take place on June 6 from 9:00-4:30 at the Maricopa Ag Center. The workshop goal is to assemble UA CALS faculty members involved in pest management related research and outreach, along with key participants from urban, agricultural and natural resource sectors, in a forum to identify research and education needs and priorities, and to discuss the role of the Arizona Pest Management Center (APMC) and UA Extension in addressing these challenges. Registration begins at 9:00am. For more information, contact Al Fournier (520-381-2240).
