FOCUS ON FACULTY:
The judging for the Western Extension Director's Award of Excellence has been completed and Sharon Hoelscher Day received special recognition in the multi-state program category for the “Germ City: Clean Hands, Healthy People Program” along with team members B. Susie Craig, Program Director/Co-PI, Washington State University Extension; Guendoline Brown, Co-PI, West Virginia University Extension; Sandra McCurdy, University of Idaho Extension Services; Lynn Nakamura-Tengan, University of Hawaii Extension Services; Donnie L. Cook, Alabama A & M University Extension; and Allison Nichols, West Virginia University Extension.
Linda Block , Cynthia Flynn , Dan McDonald , Shirley Jo Taylor and Sherry Betts recently completed a study tour of Heifer International projects in Romania and Moldova. They are working on internationalizing Extension and plan an in-service in 2007, conference presentations, and further work in this area. For more information, contact any of the above participants.
Two members of the Arizona Agriculture Extension Association were honored at the annual meeting of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jeff Schalau , Yavapai County, received the Achievement Award which goes to professionals in the first ten years of service who have demonstrated excellence early in their careers. The Distinguished Service Award is given to individuals with ten or more years of service and a long term demonstration of excellence in all areas and this year's recipient was Rob Call, Cochise County. Also attending the conference were Jack Kelly (AAEA president), Jim Sprinkle, Randy Norton, Eric Norton, Chris Jones and Rick Gibson.
We are saddened to report that Al Lane , an Extension Livestock Specialist for many years, recently passed away. Unfortunately, we have no other details at this time.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
The Arizona Agricultural Extension Association will have its annual barbecue and auction on Wednesday, August 16 at the Campus Agricultural Center (west side of the farm) starting at 5:30pm. The auction will follow the barbecue at 7:00pm. Festivities and AAEA membership are open to all CALS Extension personnel and the cost of the barbecue (V Bar V steak and all the fixin's) is $15 per person or family.
