We are happy to announce that Rick Gibson, Pinal County CED, has been elected as the Vice-president of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents at the Annual Meeting PIC held in Cincinnati, Ohio last week. The Arizona Agricultural Extension Association was also awarded a certificate for having the third highest increase in membership.

EPA is considering issuing a National Pest Alert on Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, which is caused by a bacterium. The American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis) and Rocky Mountain wood tick (Dermacentor andersoni) are the primary athropods (vectors) which transmit Rocky Mountain spotted fever bacteria in the United States. UPCOMING EVENTS:
The Arizona Agricultural Extension Association will have its annual barbecue and auction on Wednesday, August 16 at the Campus Agricultural Center (west side of the farm) starting at 5:30pm. The auction will follow the barbecue at 7:00pm. Festivities and AAEA membership are open to all CALS Extension personnel and the cost of the barbecue (V Bar V steak and all the fixin's) is $15 per person or family.
