Tuesday Morning Notes

CIVIL RIGHTS REPORTS:

A reminder that t he Civil Rights Annual Desk Audits that each county must complete were due February 1.  Each county must complete one as a part of our plan of work and as are required by the Federal government.  In addition, the Annual Affirmative Action Report ( AAP-7) was due at the first of the year. We have received less than a third of the audits and reports, so please take the time to complete both of them and submit to my office. If you have any questions, contact me or Steven Crofts (520.621.7145).

eXtension BUSINESS:

eXtension has established 21 communities of practice of which 6 Arizona faculty or programs are partners or leaders of these communities: Randy Norton , Dawn Gouge , Linda Block , Barron Orr , DAIReXNET, Diversity. Check out what is happening in cotton, dairy, IPM, Financial Security, Diversity, Geospatial Solutions and much more. About 3,550 individuals registered as users in 2006 and the Q&A program had 20,000+ contacts and is rapidly growing. eXtension is about a new way of work, not a new program. It is a way to expand our efforts and market our programs. I would encourage you to check out the evolving resource system and new face of University of Arizona by going to https://people.extension.org and clicking on “Find Colleagues” in the upper left hand section of the screen. You will need to log in with an eXtension ID (which you can get at this site) to access the information.

COUNTY OFFICE COMPUTER SUPPORT:

Last week we posted a reminder that Andy Medina and Robert Armstrong now have separate contact numbers (Andy - 520.626.8395 / Robert - 520.621.3872). We also wanted to note that due to the increased use of the remote access system and the need to use it after hours in some cases, Andy has adjusted his hours to a 10:00am-7:00pm shift.

EMERGENCY FILES:

At least once a year, each county office should review their emergency information for each employee – making sure that current contact and health information is up to date. Although we always hope to never need this information, in case an emergency arises, this information needs to be up to date and readily available.

HEALTHY COOKING CLASS ASSISTS DIABETES PATIENTS & FAMILY MEMBERS:

There is a nice write up of the fall “Eat Well, Be Well with Diabetes” cooking class offered in Mohave County .

To access the file, go to http://www.co.mohave.az.us/csvcs/newsmc/docs/Diabetes.pdf.
