FOCUS ON FACULTY:
- Id like to welcome Erin Taylor (formerly Senior Research Specialist) as our new Area Assistant Agent, Agriculture in Maricopa County. She will also serve northern Pima County and Pinal County. Her new appointment was effective June 4 .
- Congratulations to the winners of a Translational Science Fellowship in Environmental, Water, Land and Natural Resource Sciences funded by the TRIF Translational Environmental Research. These projects will be in cooperation with Arizona Cooperative Extension faculty: Diane Austin (Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology), Katherine Hirschboeck (Laboratory of Tree Ring Research), Thomas Sheridan (the Southwest Center), Janick Artiola * (Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science), and Eric Betterton* (Department of Atmospheric Sciences).

- The interviews for the Extension Specialist in ABE/MAC for June 12-13 have been cancelled. The candidate requested his name be withdrawn from the search. Also, there were problems with the Web cast for the first candidates seminar on June 8. UPCOMING EVENTS & DEADLINES:
- The SmartScape Program is hosting a 6-series informative half-hour television show through Tucson Access Television's program, Tucson Vision. Water conservation topics including local and statewide efforts (June), Xeriscape Turf and Drip Irrigation (July), and Water Quality and Rain Water Harvesting (August), will be presented by UA Extension and SmartScape/WaterSmart Instructors. Running June 9 through August 23 , these cable television programs will air on Saturdays at 5:30pm and Thursdays at 7:30pm on Access Tucson Channels (99/Cox and 74/Comcast). - The joint meeting of the Association for Communications Excellence and the National Extension Technology Conference takes place June 16-19 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Topics will range from Podcasting for Virtual Instruction and Finding New Ways to Attract Students to Promoting 4-H Youth Development Using Results from the Tufts University Study. Sessions cover academic programs, research, application development and support, distance education and instructional design, marketing, publishing, diversity, leadership and management, photography, and a lot more.
