Tuesday Morning Notes

January 22, 2008

FOCUS ON STAFF:

Congratulations to Winston Tease Jr., Instructional Specialist for FSNEP in Maricopa County, who received an award from the Governor on January 17 for his work in a mentoring youth program.

Congratulations to Joanne Littlefield who has accepted a job with Colorado State University Extension as Regional Communications and Marketing Coordinator for the Front Range.  After nearly 18 years of working for Extension and CALS, her last day will be January 25.

MARKETING EXTENSION:

It is important that we place University of Arizona Cooperative Extension text and/or graphics in all Extension publicationsincluding Web sites.  This is an effort to market and brand Cooperative Extension.  Extension has two items related to Web sites in addition to the university and CALS requirements and they are:

- Prominently display the words "Cooperative Extension" (preferably "University of Arizona Cooperative Extension") at the top of your front/main page.  This is for programs/projects that receive significant funding from Extension.  If Extension is a contributor, but not primary (more than 50%) funding source (i.e., AgNIC, aquaculture, controlled environment ag center), the words 'University of Arizona Cooperative Extension can be placed lower on the page, but still needs to be somewhere on the front page.

- Provide a link to the main Cooperative Extension page ( http://cals.arizona.edu/extension).  These two links may also help with future design questions ( http://uaweb.arizona.edu/guidelines.0.html) and CALS guidelines ( http://cals.arizona.edu/ecat/web/checklist.html).  If you need assistance adding graphics or text to your web pages, contact Kelly Block Arizmendi (520.626.9174).

MARICOPA COUNTY OFFICE:

The Maricopa County office will be closed all day on Friday, February 1 , so all faculty and staff can attend an off-site strategic planning day.
